CRAZY P -

With one of the best live dance music shows on the planet, Crazy P have been leaving their mark on the landscape of British dance music for the last 15 years. To trace the origins of Crazy P we have to go all the way back to 1996. This was the year that brought together James Baron and Chris Todd. It was the era of Ataris, Akais and bedroom studios and, through their love of bending and reshaping old record from many different genres, a production partnership was born in the backstreets of Nottingham.
After a couple of releases under various different monikers, the work attracted the ears of deep house label Paper Recordings based in Manchester and the creature that is Crazy P was born.
Their first four albums ‘A Nice Hot Bath With’(1999), ‘The Wicked Is Music’ (2002), and ’24 Psychedelic Freakout’ (2003), and ‘A Night On Earth’ (2004), coupled with the addition of live band members Tim Davies, Matt Klose, and the vocals of the inimitable Danielle Moore saw Crazy P gain acclaim, record sales, DJ gigs, and most pertinently, live shows, across the world.
Its been three years since their last album ‘When We On’ on 2020 Vision, and in that time the songwriting, production, and performing nucleus of Danielle Moore, Chris Todd, and James Baron have been constantly touring with their DJ and Soundsystem sets, and the live band shows which still see them regarded as one of dance music’s finest, and genuinely live, performers out there.
Like another UK house and disco pioneer Greg Wilson, Crazy P have managed to both uphold the heritage of soul, musicianship and song writing that is an essential part of the fabric of house and disco, and also stay current, letting those fundamental elements of the sound inform and mark out their takes on the club floors and younger audiences that they consistently turn inside out.
To present their seventh album, “Walk Dance Talk Sing” Crazy P will perform Live & DJ set at Badaboum for their unic French date of the Album Tour launch.
DJ STEEF -
https://soundcloud.com/fredberthet
Fred Berthet is this mysterious Frenchman known as DJ STEEF who produced slow & funky downtempo house tracks in the past years. Based in Marseille this quiet but not shy producer has built his way on many different projects since the early 90’s where it all started.
Fred Berthet at the begining worked with Biomix (organizer of “Electronic Territories” Festival, later known as “Seconde Nature”), after composing singles with Antoine Boullé under the pseudonym Venus Attack Project (on the label US Guidance), he created the band known as Troublemakers with his friend Lionel Corsini & Arnaud Taillefert. After an over-welcomed first LP ("Doubts & Convictions" on Guidance rec) and well received worldwide, Concecration came on the second one on Blue Note (“Express Way”) pushing The Troublemakers at one of the top electronic band in the French scene.
Fred later on focused his attention on Copyshop project, influenced by the 80’s (Gomma, Toy Tonics, La Dame Noir, Numoment...). Producing now under DJ Steef its was the occasion to synthesize his musical roots such as 80’s electro pop, poisonous disco, classy french influences, insistent downtempo and up warding house. Fred has found in his alter ego DJ Steef the perfect combinasion of incredible fat, slow, funky downtempo house tracks that every body is so crazy about.
As Gomma label boss says on him its not about fashion but clearly about style & thats why we all love his production stamped BIOMIX, in the shadows, under cover & simply outstanding.
