Bardo is a brand new project and an album by a marvellous slovak singer, composer and lyricist Sisa Feher & Vladko Miklas, a slovakian guitarist, multi-instrumentalist and composer, both of them based in Prague.
The actual term ‘bardo' comes from the Tibetan Book of the Dead and stands for a kind of intermediate or transitional state between death and rebirth.
The record takes the listener on a journey through Sisa’s & Vlado’s poetic soundscapes contemplating wide range of innermost emotional states with one governing theme that links the whole album together and that is nature.
Lyrics on the album were originally poems written by Sisa mainly during her time in the Slovakian mountains where she could meditate upon the beauties & almost uncomprehensible aspects of nature & also our place as a humankind within the natural context. The result is subtle, gentle but also very urgent.
The album as well as live performances transfers the listener into the autonomous magical world of beautiful minimalistic & sophisticated sonic soundscapes based on sounds of guitar, doublebass & Sisa’s muulti-layered vocals, all composed very precisely. And since Sisa is naturaly rooted in the slovakian folkloric music, Bardo itself has a flavour of that kind, even though the compositions&lyrics are all completely original, speaking their own language.
For live shows which have a beautiful meditative but urging atmosphere, Sisa & Vlado are joined by several excellent musicians from Prague jazz & alternative scene - Rasťo Uhrik on double-bass, Petr Nohavice on drums & Dan Hasalík on synths & guitar.
Sisa Feher is a Slovakian multigenre singer, studied music in Prague and London, performed at numerous festivals & club scenes all over Europe.
With her jazz/soul quintet Feher Rocher she supported artists like Richard Bona, Esperanza Spalding, Kurt Elling, Avishai Cohen Trio and many others.
Vlado Miklas performs as a guitarist along Katarzia or Bert&Friends or composes music for theatre projects like Loosers Cirque Company or his jazz-fusion band Triptych.
